Sally Gage with Stella Luna

St. Petersburg, Florida is home to a very special little pack - this pack includes Stella Luna, a cheeky and outgoing WerePup who hates to wear dresses! She's got some other werewolves in her pack and more on the way, so we caught up with mom, Sally Gage, who was happy to share with us the joys of raising little lycans.

"I found out about Werepups doing research on modern werewolves and following a pictorial rabbit hole," Says mom. "First seeing the latex babies and following them as they grew. I love everything about the werepups concept to artistic reality, they brought my love of werewolves to life."

With her own bed, blankets and lots of toys to play with, Stella's mommy sure loves to shower her with everything a little werewolf could dream of. "Stella has a large wardrobe.  Play casual to sleep wear to formal wear to Cosplay Stella has more clothes than I do."

Stella went home in 2013 and made her big debut at Dragon*Con that year. "I was unprepared for the level of attention we would receive," Sally explains. "Celebrities made their way to us to see Stella and at one point Manu Bennett (Arrow & The Hobbit) ran off with her to snuggle her.  That weekend she met so many people and had such fun at our hotel, our hotel gave us a "werewolf" discount off our total bill.  Stella entranced the entire staff from manager to chef and head concierge everyone loved her. Stella has been to sci-fi, horror and comic book conventions as well as renaissance fairs and their is very few negative responses most are simply in awe of her."

As far as family life goes, Stella is right at home among her human and werewolf peers. She holds her own against her big brother, Silas, an older lycanthrope - he may tease his little sister, but he is also very protective. Sally tells us "We also have twin five year old nieces who find Stella fascinating. Kind of a fellow child.  One of the girl was with Stella and I and when the inevitable question 'is that real?' Came up, my niece matter-if-factly states "Of course Stella is real...she is just not alive' the best response that I have now adopted."

When Stella Grows Up:

Stella will grow up to look like the werewolves from "Skinwalkers" human with lupine features, unlike her brother who resembles the wolves from Dog Soldiers.

"My favorite thing about Werepups and having Stella in my life is the fact Stella has helped me deal with crippling anxiety.  She has brought me freedom to enjoy the events like conventions without the panic attacks and fear.  She acts as a social lubricant to allow people near me without myself being the focus. I can talk to people about her without judgement and without fear.  She saved me."

Mom Loves:

From Asia to Stella:

Dear Stella,

Your mom sure knows her werewolves! I followed her ideas for how you would look and, sure enough, I can't express how proud I am of you. Every picture that your mommy posts of you makes me smile, and she has not only raised awareness for WerePups, but she also has given me more confidence in what I am doing. I chose your closeup as the full page feature in a portfolio that my husband and I submitted to someone who is very, very important to us. Seeing you dressed up at mom's wedding...reading her description of what she loves about you...I have been choked up a few times. Thank you a million times over, little girl! Thank you for being Stella. - Asia
